What is an Ashram
The root of the word Ashram is "shrama," which means "effort" or "striving." The hermitage or
home of a swami or other person serving people
in their efforts towards inner peace and spiritual awakening is called an Ashram. More than any physical location it is really a place of the heart,
an inner sanctuary of silence.

The Kendall Ashram is devoted to share the path to Self Knowledge and Self Realization in the purest way, based on the direct teachings of the Himalayan Masters (Via the writings and teachings of Swami Rama, and through direct relation with his disciple Swami Jnaneshvara Bharati)

We do have, among others, the purpose of showing the simplest approach to the final goal versus the multiple distortions of the concept and teaching of the popularized “yoga”. We relate and refer to the original source and the enlighten beings of Swami Rama’s disciples.

YOGA:
It is not a religion. It is “the art and science of systematically observing, accepting and understanding each of the levels of our being, such as we may coordinate and integrate those aspects of ourselves and dwell in the direct experience of the center of consciousness.” Quote from the introduction to the CD Basic Meditation by Swami J.

Our Ashram is about Yoga and its practices.

Just a little drop of truth in the ocean of delusion
"Most people remain strangers to themselves, and yet they want to be friends with others, and they claim to love others.
But if one does not know himself, how can he know or love others?
Therefore, it becomes necessary to understand the nature of the self, the nature of the people with whom one lives, and the nature of the universe.
By understanding these, one might be disapointed in some ways, but he will know the Reality.
Very few people are conscious of the many dimensions of life within.
That is why they have many inner conflicts --Which they project outside onto others, so that life outside also becomes gloomy".
Quote form Choosing a Path, by Swami Rama

"Be happy and fearless. Remember that you are a child of Divinity.
Loss and gain cannot even touch your shadow."

WHERE YOU ARE

There is nowhere to go if you want to go where you have to.
If you decide to go “there”, I tell you: there is not such “there”. There is only a “here”, where you already are.
It doesn’t mean that all the parts of your personality are “here”. That is the task. Not to pay attention to those and bypass them to be where you have always been in first place: Where YOU ARE.
